EVENTS:
Various events are held at Children’s Railway, Budapest during the course of the year. In early December, Santa Claus trains run and some carriages have Christmas decorations during Advent. In spring and summer we organize hikes, and we have programs and concerts on Children’s day. Halloween express departs in autumn.
Christmas Light Train in Budapest
On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, and from Monday, October 27 to Sunday, November 2, the trains will only run between Hűvösvölgy and Csillebérc.

Firework-watching train | 20th August | Private train which stops at a point of the line with superb panorama for the firework show on the National Day of Hungary. Participation only with prepaid tickets (special fee), please check news in our website! |

Alumni days | the first 2 Saturdays of September | On these two days members of our adult alumni team take shifts again at the railway, often accompanied by their own children who are currently part of our staff. |

Santa Trains | beginning of December | Private trains with organized children programmes by our partner company. Santa Claus meets with every child on these private trains and gives them some sweet gifts. Only with prepaid tickets (special fee)! |

Christmas carriages | during Advent | Decorated carriages run during Advent time, as well as on Christmas days. On the 24th of December the trains operate only until midday. On the 1st of January the first train departs one hour later. |

Trains marked with a dark blue background in the timetable are nostalgia (heritage) trains.
Bicycles cannot be transported on nostalgia trains. The allocation of these trains is published only a few weeks in advance, depending on the current operating conditions of the vintage vehicles. In addition to the regular ticket, a Nostalgic Supplementary ticket is also required for these trains.
